In a road-bottom (not even roadside! people drive on this thing!) outcrop of the Bighorn Dolomite (Ordovician) on the way to the Bighorn Medicine Wheel, we espied this lovely receptaculid (“sunflower coral,” though it’s not a coral at all) on Sunday morning:
An ichnofossil maybe?
If it was in a road bed, I’d say fair game for a hammer and chisel, then.
Love your scale-pen!
Thanks – it’s a creation of the brilliant Steve Gough.
