Limestone strata in a variety of orientations, with a nice tilted axial plane. Outcrop is on the east side of the Icefields Parkway, across from one of the many glacier overlooks.
Lucy and Alex both wanted to act as sense of scale for this one… Can’t say I blame them.
HI…. what do you know about the cape granite super group : tygerberg formation in grotto bay … #geologist from south africa
Hi Cathrine,
I don’t know too much about South Africa, but I recommend you check out the Rocks and Mountains of Cape Town by John Compton, and Geological Journeys by Norman & Whitfield (pub. by De Beers) for good background information. The Cape Granite would be different from any supergroup (“Table Mountain supegroup,” perhaps), as granites are igneous and “supergroup” is used to refer to sedimentary rocks.
Best,
Callan
